TO HIGH SCHOOL JUNIORS AND SENIORS
A.C.T. TEST

We understand students may want help preparing for the A.C.T. and may want to take a practice test to know their strengths and weaknesses. Sacred Heart will provide a workshop for the A.C.T. The date is early enough for students to have time to practice before they take the “real thing”. This workshop will be here at Sacred Heart, SATURDAY, OCTOBER 2ND 9 TO 2 We think this is important enough for your future that you should arrange work schedules,. etc. now. There will be no charge for this day, but you will have to bring your own lunch. In order to have enough materials available, please let Sister Donna know if you plan to attend. 601-331-3300. Note: September 17th is deadline to register for test on October 23rd (cost $33) (Another 2010 opportunity to take test is December 11). On line registrations preferred.

NOVENA FOR MONIQUE FRIERSON
As our sister Monique begins another round of chemotherapy for her cancer we would like to begin our novena (nine Sundays) of prayer for her healing –both the physical and spiritual strength of her and her family. We have reprinted the prayer cards we used earlier drawing on the intercession of Sister Thea Bowman to aid in her healing. We will pray this prayer together each Sunday, as a community for the next nine Sundays. Please take a card and keep it so that all may join together in this prayer. Thank You!

PARISH NEEDS YOUR TITHE SUPPORT!
Please note that for four weeks in a row we have dropped below our needed budgeted amount in our tithe offerings. As I mentioned last Sunday this is a dangerous trend which, if it continues, it will cause us to have to limit/cancel parish programs and events. It is easy to get “lazy” with our tithe or to use our tithe as some kind of “statement” about issues that we may not be happy with in the church. This is not spiritual tithing! Each adult member of the church should support the church—scripture call us to this in Lev. 27:30; Numbers 18:26 and 1 Cor. 16:24. A tithe is usually 10% of our weekly or monthly income. A tithe is a sacrifice—not an offering of what we have left over but off the top of our income. Don’t cheat God—be generous and God will bless you in ways you can’t even imagine! Thanks to all.
