OPENING THE DOORS OF THE CHURCH-RCIA
We would like to invite all those who are interested in learning more about our Catholic Faith and joining us as members to let the Spirit of God move you to become part of our RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) this fall. If you, or someone you know, are interested, please give the name to our sister, Linda McMurtry, who will once again assist in leading this group. Theme today: “Take a Look: The Lenten Scrutinies” Session led by Hiram Robinson

KEEPING OUR EASTER CANDIDATES IN PRAYER
Lent is a special time for all of our RCIA participants. It marks the last six weeks of their journey to Easter and is a special time of prayer and preparation for them. We continue to celebrate all those who have been journeying with us these many months—please pray for them and their sponsors and families. Please remember Tanesha Walker who is a candidate for Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation and William Banks, Willie Nick, Kellie Nick, Jeanette Walker, James Banks, Andrea Shearill, Jermaine Wair and Albert White who all are already Baptized but will celebrate the sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation at Easter. Special thanks to Linda McMurtry for her leadership and all the weekly Catechists.

LENTEN OFFERINGS FOR GROWTH
At the end of Liturgy today we will invite each of you to take a “growth Bag” from the table in the narthex. Inside this bag is some dirt, a pack of seeds, a small pot and an explanation/instruction. Lent is about growth—growth in a greater understanding of our relationship to God, to others and ourselves. Follow the instruction!

STATIONS OF THE CROSS: We invite you to join us each Friday during Lent at 6:30 pm for the Stations of the Cross. PENANCE SERVICE: We invite you to join us in a Lenten Penance Service on Wednesday, March 17th at 6:30 pm. LENTEN PLANT: Don’t forget to plant the seeds in your pot, water them and allow them to grow! As we see the plant grow let us remember that God invites us to grow as well this holy season.

YOUNG ADULT PILGRIMAGE TODAY
Keep in your prayers many of our young adults who are in New Orleans today for a special Revival Celebration this afternoon. Ask the Spirit of God to enliven their faith through this experience and give them safe travel home this evening!

CENSUS
Some of you may be getting letters saying you will soon be receiving a Census Form in the mail. It is important that everyone be counted in the Census because that’s what our Representation in Congress is based on. If there aren’t enough people counted in our District, we could lose a representative. If you need help filling out this form, call Sister Donna (601- 331-3300) to set a time and she will gladly assist you.

COLLECTION
Are you tithing? Budget amount of offertory needed each week (on average) is $1,800.00. Collection for February 21, 2010: $1,983.50. Black & Indian Mission: $432.00. Please remember, even in these difficult financial times, continue to try to remain faithful to your tithe trusting that if you are generous with God, God will be generous with you. Thank You. God Bless

TAXES
Sister Donna has begun doing taxes! If you pay someone to do your taxes, you‘re probably not just paying to have your taxes done, but also are paying a portion of their interest on a upfront loan to give you money before the IRS pays them. Why give a portion of your refund to someone else? If you come see Sr. Donna, you could have your refund back by the first week of February. Sister Donna will also be doing taxes at the WIN Job Center in Canton on Monday afternoons and Friday mornings if that is easier for you. SEE BROCHURE ON BACK TABLE ABOUT THE EARNED INCOME TAX CREDIT. IT CONTAINS INFO+ QUALIFYING INCOME LEVELS FOR YOUR FILING STATUS. Call Sr. Donna for an appointment!

May she and all the faithful departed rest in eternal peace.
